The accreditation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a member of the Coordination Committee and the Program and Budget Committee

Within the work of the General Assembly (62) for the World Intellectual Property (WIPO),  the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been accredited as a member of the the Coordination Committee and the Program and Budget Committee.

The Coordination Committee was established in 1970, as one of the three main bodies that were established in conjunction with the organization’s agreement. The Committee is concerned with providing advice to the members of the unions, the General Assembly, the Conference, and the Director-General on all administrative and financial affairs and any other matters of common importance. The Committee is responsible for proposing the name of a candidate for the position of Director-General and appointing an Acting Director-General and the Committee includes in its membership 83 countries.

The Program and Budget Committee is concerned with considering issues of the program and budget, financial affairs, audit and control, human resources, buildings, and submits its recommendations in this regard to the General Assembly and other bodies of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The Committee was established in 1979 under the name of the Budget Committee until it changed to the “Program and Budget Committee” in 1998 due to the increase in the number of programs implemented by the organization, and the committee includes in its membership 53 countries.
