The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property organized a workshop entitled “Regulating and Qualifying Intellectual Property Business Practitioners” targeting a number of professionals from law firms in the Kingdom to review the features of the regulation project, as the workshop aimed to see the most important challenges and opportunities facing business practitioners in this field.
During the workshop, a number of international experiences were reviewed of the work of professional companies in the field of providing intellectual property services, in addition to a set of national experiences from specialized law firms. During the workshop a discussion session entitled (Challenges and needs of the sector) was presented.
Engineer Sami Al-Sudais, Executive Vice President of Intellectual Property Policies and Partnerships, said that law firms specializing in intellectual property are essential partners for the Authority to achieve its goals, the Authority also is working on an initiative to license and qualify intellectual property practitioners, which is one of the initiatives that have been adopted to achieve the Authority’s strategic goals, to be a role model in the Middle East and North Africa.
