In cooperation with the World Organization (WIPO)… Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property : Establishing a national center for training in the field of intellectual property

Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to establish a national center for training in the field of intellectual property, where the Authority will be the national institution charged with implementing the project to build capacity and facilitate the use of IP for development.

The Authority was represented by Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al-Swailem, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property, and The WIPO was represented by Mr. Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

This Memorandum aims at assisting in the preparation of the curricula of training programs and the services of specialized experts from the Organization with a broad background in intellectual property education and knowledge of local needs, in addition to coordination between the Authority and WIPO to provide the necessary assistance to ensure the successful implementation and completion of the project.

The project targets a wide range of society: lawyers, judges, agents, researchers, examiners, innovators and creative students interested in the fields of intellectual property.

It is worth mentioning that the Authority participates in a high-level delegation in the work of the 59th General Assembly of the World Intellectual Property Organization, and meets with more than 12 administrations and intellectual property offices from around the world to promote joint cooperation among member countries and consolidate the relationship to maximize the effects and gains from the enforcement and development of intellectual property fields, and achieving common interests and sustainable development.
