The first meeting of Committee for Examine Patents on Inventions Lawsuits was held at the headquarters of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property. At the meeting, they reviewed the future work plan of the committee and determined the work requirements for the next stage.
The Executive Chairman of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Swailem attended the meeting, as well as the members of the Committee chaired by Dr. Abdulhameed Al-Hargan, and the membership of: Dr. Abdullah bin Hussein Al-Shehri, Dr. Abdul Latif bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Dr. Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Majid and Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Abdulkarim.
The Chairman of the Committee Dr. Al-Hargan confirmed that this meeting is the starting point of the Committee to practice its work and competencies, to consider all disputes and appeals against the decisions on protection documents and criminal proceedings arising from the violation of the provisions of the patent system, layout designs of integrated circuits, plant varieties and industrial designs issued by Royal Decree No. (M / 27) dated 29/5/1425 H, as amended by the Council of Ministers Resolution No. (536) dated 19/10/1439 H.
Al-Swailem appreciated the trust in the restructuring of the committee and the leadership’s keenness to support intellectual property rights by preserving, enforcing and sponsoring it in accordance with national legislation and international conventions and treaties to which the Kingdom is a party.
