The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced the adoption of the appointment of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property by consensus of all 193 WIPO members, as an accredited International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority under the PCT (PCT/ISA), As the second International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority to support the Arabic language, allowing international patent applicants in member states to choose the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property as one of the international searching authorities accredited by the World Intellectual Property Organization to issue the search report for international patent applications.
It is noteworthy that to achieve this, SAIP developed the necessary strategic plans and set the required targets. SAIP planned the recruitment and training of examiners to provide them with the skills that enable them to perform the search and examination process and implemented quality standards and the development of electronic systems, to start preparing to complete the appointment requirements.
The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property looks forward to contributing to the strengthening of the Patent Cooperation Treaty in the region and the world as it is the 25th authority in the world as an International Searching and Preliminary Examining Authority.
